Set up Automated Messages

## Overview **Automated Messages** let you build trigger-based messaging sequences that automatically engage your fans when they take specific actions - no manual follow-up needed. This feature expands on the old Welcome Messages, giving you more control with conditions, delays, and rich text formatting. 💡 Your existing Welcome Messages are still visible, but can no longer be edited. To make changes or create new sequences, you'll need to use the Automated Messages feature going forward. ## Creating your first automation Here's how to get your first automated message sequence up and running: 1. From the left-hand sidebar, go to **Creator Tools** → **Automated Messages**. 2. Click **+ New Automation** to start building. 3. Select a **+ Build from scratch** or choose any from our available templates 4. Hit **Save** to create the automation. 5. Add steps by choosing either a **Condition** or an **Auto Message**. 6. Configure each step, then save your automation when you're done. ## Available fan action triggers These triggers are ready to go - just pick the one that fits what you want to automate: - **On Follow** - When a fan follows you - **On Unfollow** - When a fan unfollows you - **On Membership Purchase** - When a fan buys any membership or a specific tier - **On Membership Expire** - When any membership or a specific tier expires - **Free Trial** - When a fan starts a free trial - **On Livestream End** - When your livestream ends - **On Post Comment** - When a fan comments on any post or a specific post - **On Fanwall Comment** - When a fan comments on your wall - **Message with Keywords** - When a fan messages you with specific keywords - **Like Post** - When a fan likes any post or a specific post - **On Marketplace Purchase** - When a fan purchases from your marketplace - **On Content Purchase** - When a fan purchases any content or specific content from your Vault ## Understanding conditions Conditions are rules that filter which fans actually receive your Auto Messages - so the right message reaches the right people. Here's how they work: - Add conditions to narrow down who gets your messages - Combine multiple rules using **And/Or** logic - By default, multiple conditions stack as all **And** or all **Or** - Use **Group Conditions** to mix And and Or logic for more advanced targeting **Example:** Trigger on membership purchase AND the fan has tipped before OR has purchased content in the last 30 days. ## Building your message sequence - **Triggers** define the fan action that kicks off the automation - **Conditions** determine which fans qualify to receive messages - **Auto Messages** are the actual messages your qualified fans receive - Add **delays** between steps to pace out your communication - Use **rich text formatting** to make your messages more engaging 💡 You can build multiple steps into a single automation, making it easy to create sophisticated sequences based on real fan behavior. ## Additional resources For an in-depth visual guide, templates, and condition examples, check out this resource: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/ulmp6zosaab4xc7edzm1m/Automated-Messages_110625.pdf?rlkey=0h4qkujaieaflf6q7w1eupaie&st=uz5qux5v&dl=0 ## FAQ ### What happened to my existing Welcome Messages? They're still visible, but can no longer be edited. To update your welcome flow or build a new one, use Automated Messages with the **On Follow** trigger. ### Can I set up multiple automations for the same trigger? Yes! You can create multiple automations for the same trigger with different conditions to target different fan segments. ### How do I add a delay between messages? When adding steps to your automation, you'll have the option to configure a delay before each Auto Message. ### What's the difference between a Condition and a Trigger? A **Trigger** is the fan action that starts the automation (like following you). A **Condition** is an additional rule that filters which fans should actually receive the message (like whether they've purchased content before). ### What happens if two automations have the exact same triggers and conditions? The same automation will be sent twice - there's no cross-automation checking, so duplicate setups will result in duplicate sends. ### Can I exclude fans who've recently chatted with me from receiving automations? Not currently, but this may be added as a condition option in the future. ### Is there a limit to how many automations I can create? Yes. Here are the current limits: - Maximum of **20 steps** per automation - Maximum of **40 automations** per creator account - Maximum of **50 conditions** per condition step (including nested conditions) - Condition steps have a maximum depth of **3 tiers** ### How do I check analytics for my automated messages? Messages sent via automations are tracked individually in **Analytics → Messages** history.
